Head-on collision in South Lake Tahoe sends four to hospital

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A head-on collision on Pioneer Trail Friday sent all four people involved to the hospital. On July 26, 2024, at approximately 1 p.m., A 2022 Prius was being driven northbound near Tionontati Street when, for unknown reasons, the Prius crossed into the southbound lane, hitting a 2022 GMC Sierra head-on.

The Prius was being driven by a 35-year-old San Francisco resident. According to the California Highway Patrol, she was traveling at an unknown rate of speed while the 74-year-old South Lake Tahoe resident driving the GMC stated he was going 40 mph. The Prius driver suffered a broken femur.

There were two people in each of the cars and all four were transported to Barton Hospital with minor to major injuries. In addition to the broken leg, the others had lacerations and complaints of pain.

Both vehicles suffered major damage and were towed.
