Lake Tahoe air quality affected by Park Fire

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Smoke from the Park Fire has been affecting the air quality for much of Northern California and Western Nevada, and more of the same can be expected through Thursday. The Park Fire is 18 percent contained as of June 31 and has burned 391,200 acres covering four counties, Butte, Plumas, Shasta, and Tehama.

According to AirNow, Lake Tahoe has been in the "moderate" to "unhealthy for sensitive groups" ranges, with the North Shore having the poorer air quality. Truckee is currently in the unhealthy" range.

Thursday should be more of the same.

On Friday there is a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in South Lake Tahoe which would help eliminate the smoke, if there is enough rain.
