2022 Lake Tahoe Summit: Protecting Lake Tahoe’s Future

LAKE TAHOE, Nev./Calif. - White House National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy will give the keynote address at the 2022 Lake Tahoe Summit on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, hosted by U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen. McCarthy, who is tasked with coordinating the Biden administration’s domestic climate agenda, previously served as President and CEO of the Natural Resources Defense Council and Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in the Obama Administration.

This year’s summit theme is “Protecting Lake Tahoe’s Future,” and it will be a chance to reflect on the progress made to restore the Tahoe Basin over the last two decades, discuss current challenges that the surrounding communities face, and find ways to preserve and protect Lake Tahoe in the years to come.

The summit will take place at Sand Harbor, Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. and the program begins at 10 a.m.

There will not be any on-site parking, so people are encouraged to use public transportation or a complimentary shuttle service to get to and from the summit. There will also be a bicycle valet service courtesy of the Lake Tahoe Bicycle Coalition for those wishing to come via the Tahoe East Shore Trail.

The event will also be live-streamed on Vimeo for those who are not able to attend in person.

Transportation
Free shuttle service will be provided by the Tahoe Transportation District in partnership with IVGID.

Parking will be available at Diamond Peak Ski Resort, 1210 Ski Way, Incline Village, NV

Shuttle buses will pick up and drop off attendees in front of the Main Lodge. The first pick-up will be at 8:30 a.m. to Sand Harbor. The last shuttle from Sand Harbor will be at 1:30 p.m.

Also consider walking or biking in on the East Shore Trail.
