SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Clif. — Lake Tahoe Community College and local artist Shelley Zentner are partnering to host a one-year anniversary recognition of the Caldor Fire in LTCC’s Haldan Art Gallery. The public is welcome to attend on Wednesday, August 17 from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. in the library building on LTCC’s campus.
LTCC Art Department staff will join Zentner, college senior leadership, City of South Lake Tahoe officials, and local fire personnel to mark the one-year anniversary since the Caldor Fire ignited in nearby Grizzly Flats, eventually resulting in more than 221,000 acres burned and over 1,000 structures destroyed.
The event will also serve as a closing reception for Zentner’s solo art exhibit, entitled “Call & Response: Visions of the Forest After Wildfire.”
The exhibit is made up of drawings and oil paintings created with ash collected from the fire. Read more about Zentner and this exhibit of work on her website at https://shellyzen.us.
LTCC is located at One College Drive off of Al Tahoe Boulevard in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. Parking on campus is free and ample. For directions and more information, visit www.ltcc.edu or call (530) 541-4660.
