Douglas County history lecture to focus on bombing of Harvey's

The Douglas County Historical Society will continue its History Lecture Series on Thursday, August 10 with a 55-minute slideshow presentation starting at 6:30 p.m.

Local author/historian David Woodruff will present "The Big Bang," a look back at the incredible, true, and bizarre story of a calculating and disgruntled gambler, and his attempt to extort three million dollars from the historic Harvey’s Casino Resort at Lake Tahoe in August of 1980.

The program will be at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center, 1477 US Hwy 395 N, Gardnerville. Doors open at 6 p.m. and admission is $5. Members of the Douglas County, Alpine, and Dayton historical societies are free. Please call David at (760) 920-8061 for more information.
