Identities released of two men who died at Lake Tahoe last weekend

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office has released the names of two men who died in Lake Tahoe last weekend. At this time drowning is suspected in both cases though an investigation is being conducted and the office is waiting for toxicology and lab results.

At approximately 4:10 p.m. on Friday, July 29, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) responded to a report of a possible drowning on the east shore of Lake Tahoe. WCSO Marine 9, North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, U.S. Coast Guard, Sand Harbor Lifeguards, and Nevada State Parks all responded to the area and located an unresponsive adult male subject in the water. The victim was transported to Sand Harbor and transferred by ambulance to a local area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

He has been identified as 32-year-old Juan Gonzales-Juarez of Colton, Calif.

The Medical Examiner’s Office has also identified a second man who drowned at Zephyr Point on Sunday.

They say 37-year-old William Siu of Concord, California drowned in the Douglas County portion of the lake after he was witnessed falling off a personal watercraft.

While both cases are suspected drownings, routine investigations are underway by the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office and it will be several weeks before they are concluded.
