Major delays expected on SR28 project in North Lake Tahoe

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Caltrans is advising motorists of a broadband installation project and gas-line replacement work continuing along State Route 28 (SR-28) along the north shore of Lake Tahoe next week.

The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

Utility work is scheduled along the shoulders of both directions of SR-28 at the following locations and times:

Sunday, August 11 from 8 p.m. until Monday, August 12 at 8 a.m. between Lake Forest Road West and Chinquapin Drive
Monday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 13 from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. between Sierra Terrace Road and Rocky Ridge Road
Monday, August 12 from 8 p.m. until Tuesday, August 13 at 8 a.m. between Dollar Drive and Lardin Way
Tuesday, August 13 from 8 p.m. until Wednesday, August 14 at 8 a.m. between Lardin Way and Ridgewood Road
Wednesday, August 14 from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. between Sierra Terrace Road and Burton Creek Drive
Wednesday, August 14 from 8 p.m. until Thursday, August 15 at 8 a.m. between Ridgewood Road and Onyx Street
Thursday, August 15 from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. between Sierra Terrace Road and Chinquapin Drive
Thursday, August 15 from 8 p.m. until Friday, August 16 at 8 a.m. between Ridgewood Road and Onyx Street

In addition, Southwest Gas and its contractor, Q&D Construction, continue work on a gas-line replacement project on SR-28 between Tahoe City and Kings Beach. Long-term one-way traffic control is scheduled for the following locations:

Sunday, August 11 at 7 p.m. until Wednesday, August 14 at 5 p.m. at Ridgewood Road in Carnelian Bay
Sunday, August 11 at 7 p.m. until Thursday, August 15 at noon at Onyx Street in Carnelian Bay
Sunday, August 11 at 7 p.m. until Friday, August 16 at noon between Stag Drive and Granite Road
Monday, August 12 at 7 p.m. until Friday, August 16 at noon at Brassie Avenue in Kings Beach
Thursday, August 15 at 7 a.m. until Friday, August 16 at noon at Estates Drive in Tahoe Vista
