Chance of rain and thunderstorms remains in the South Lake Tahoe forecast for the week ahead

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Low pressure along the California coastline will remain a fixture in the overall pattern through the upcoming week in the Lake Tahoe Basin and Northern Nevada. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno says to plan on daily chances for showers and thunderstorms for the Sierra and parts of western Nevada this week, especially on Monday. Temperatures will remain warm through the week with some cooling possible by next weekend. The weekend also shows the possibility of continued thunderstorms.

The South Lake Tahoe forecast from NWS Reno:

Monday - Scattered showers and thunderstorms after 11 am. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday Night - Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 11 pm. Partly cloudy, with a low of around 45. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening. The chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday - A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 85. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low of around 50. West wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening. The chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday - A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. Increasing clouds, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.
