Three South Lake Tahoe brandishing cases over the weekend

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to three calls of brandishing of a weapon this weekend, two with guns and the third with a knife.

Two men from Alameda, Calif. were arrested Saturday in South Lake Tahoe after allegedly pointing a gun at another driver during what is being called a road rage incident.

At 6 p.m. on Saturday, the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) received a call about the brandishing incident and within two minutes they found the suspect vehicle at Lake Tahoe Blvd./Al Tahoe Blvd. The gun and ammunition were recovered after patrol officers located the vehicle and detained the five people inside at gunpoint.

Two of them were arrested on multiple charges including exhibiting/drawing a firearm in the presence of a motor vehicle occupant which is an aggravated felony charge, conspiracy to commit a crime which is a felony, and a misdemeanor charge of carrying a concealed weapon in the vehicle, among other charges.

In the other two brandishing incidents:

SLTPD said there was a gang fight in the roadway on Blackwood at Herbert Avenue involving a person allegedly with a tan handgun. A nineteen-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested early Friday on multiple charges and is in the El Dorado County Jail on a $108,800 bail hold. Two juveniles were also arrested.

Another suspect brandished a large knife at an acquaintance during an argument over camping supplies in a private building.

SLTPD was busy all weekend with numerous calls including a two-vehicle collision on Pioneer Trail bear Blackwood Avenue on Sunday. The 40-year-old female driver of a Ford Expedition swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with a Honda Accord. Just as that was happening there was an incident at the airport after SLTPD received calls about a female bleeding and running through the forest. They had reports that she may have been suicidal or had cut herself, but it concluded with an arrest for domestic violence when officers learned the 66-year-old male suspect may have cut her with a knife before she fled into the forest. No further details are available at this time as reports are still being written but the suspect was arrested and has since been released.
