State Route 28 project updates for the week in North Lake Tahoe

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Caltrans is advising motorists of a broadband installation project continuing along State Route 28 (SR-28) along the north shore of Lake Tahoe this week. Delays are expected between Kings Beach and Tahoe City. The Southwest Gas line project has wrapped Up for the 2024 season.

The broadband project is a part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

Utility work is scheduled along the shoulders of both directions of SR-28 at the following locations and times:

Sunday, August 18 from 8 p.m. until Monday, August 19 at 8 a.m. between Burton Creek Drive and Dollar Drive
Monday, August 19 from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Dollar Drive
Monday, August 19 from 8 p.m. until Tuesday, August 20 at 8 a.m. at Dollar Drive
Tuesday, August 20 from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. between Lardin Way and Chinquapin Drive
Tuesday, August 20 from 8 p.m. until Wednesday, August 21 at 8 a.m. at Terrace Drive
Wednesday, August 21 from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. between Lardin Way and Ridgewood Road
Wednesday, August 21 from 8 p.m. until Thursday, August 22 at 8 a.m. between Terrace Drive and Ridgewood Road
Wednesday, August 21 and Thursday, August 22 from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. between Anderson Road and the State Route 267 junction
Thursday, August 22 from 5 a.m. until 3 p.m. between Ridgewood Road and Carnelian Woods Avenue
Thursday, August 22 from 8 p.m. until Friday, August 23 at 8 a.m. between Ridgewood Road and Onyx Street

Southwest Gas and its contractor, Q&D Construction, have wrapped up construction work for this season on a gas-line replacement project on SR-28 between Tahoe City and Kings Beach. Work will resume next spring.

Motorists could encounter total delays of up to one hour between Tahoe City and Kings Beach on SR-28 due to the various construction activities. Please allow for extra time to reach your destination. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.
