One dies in crash of plane at Minden-Tahoe Airport

UPDATE Wednesday: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has identified the pilot involved in the aircraft crash—which took place on August 20, 2024 at the Minden-Tahoe Airport as Randal G. Abraham, age 68, from Redwood City, Calif. Abraham was pronounced dead at the scene.

The aircraft's sole passenger was Brandt Wood, 52, from Gardnerville, Nev. Wood was transported to Renown by East Fork Fire where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash. His condition was not released.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The Minden-Tahoe Airport confirmed a plane crash occurred around 8:19 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. One fatality is confirmed at this time, according to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.

The airport is currently closed.

On its social media page, the National Transportation Safety Board said they are investigating the crash of an experimental, amateur-built Lockwood Air Cam in Minden, Nev.

This is an ongoing investigation and more information will be released as it becomes available.
