Monday morning Caldor Fire update: 106,562 acres and 5% contained

The Caldor Fire in El Dorado County southwest from Lake Tahoe is now measured at 106,562 acres and is 5 percent contained

Overnight downslope winds, low temperatures, and moderate humidity levels
aided in slowing fire spread. Crews continue to encounter heavy down and

drought-stressed fuels that are extremely receptive to spotting.

The operational boundary of the Caldor Fire moved out to SR89 Monday morning but there will be no new evacuation warnings or orders moving with it. It is for operations and they will be adding two lines of defense between Strawberry and the highway. US50 remains closed and fire officials last night said to expect it closed for awhile.

Damage assessment teams continue to inspect properties and infrastructure
throughout the area.
