18th annual Markleeville Creek Day needs volunteers

Volunteers are needed for the 18th annual Markleeville Creek Day on Saturday, September 9. The Alpine Watershed Group is hosting the event which will focus on completing projects throughout the East and West Carson Watersheds in the following areas:

- Hope Valley Willow Planting and Bank Stabilization
- Grover State Park - Native Garden and Weed Pull

- Bear Valley Trout Spawning Protection
- Markleeville Creek Heritage Park Enhancement
- Storm Drain Stenciling in Markleeville

No experience is necessary to help with plantings, stream bank stabilization, invasive weed removal, protective tree wrapping, and storm drain stenciling.

All are welcome to attend.

Participants will gather in the Markleeville Library Park, located at 270 Laramie Street at 9:00 a.m. for registration and introductions. Groups then carpool to their restoration project locations.

The Alpine Watershed Group is a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect and enhance Alpine County watersheds.
