Caldor Fire evening update: 126,566 acres and 12 percent contained

The Caldor Fire grew 384 acres in size during the day Wednesday and it is now 126,566 acres and 12 percent contained. Today the Northeast section of the fire continued to grow, adjacent to Highway 50 and Twin Bridges, due to up-canyon winds and spotting. Critical fuel conditions, steep and rugged terrain still present a challenge for firefighters.

Overall, the fire experienced slight growth throughout the day while firefighters worked to strengthen containment and control lines.

Firefighters will experience overnight cooler temperatures, and a slight increase in relative humidity, which will aid in firefighting efforts. Additionally, the incident continues to receive more resources

that will assist in mitigation.

There have been no new evacuation orders or warnings, nor have any areas been repopulated.
