Major delays expected between Kings Beach and Tahoe City as Caltrans poroject continues

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Caltrans is advising motorists of a broadband installation project continuing along State Route 28 (SR-28) along the north shore of Lake Tahoe next week.

The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

Utility work is scheduled along the shoulders of both directions of SR-28 at the following locations and times:

Sunday, August 25 from 8 p.m. until Monday, August 26 at 3 p.m. between Jackpine Street and Star Harbor
Sunday, August 25 from 8 p.m. until Monday, August 26 at 7 a.m. between Ridgewood Road and Onyx Street
Monday, August 26 from 8 p.m. until Tuesday, August 27 at 3 p.m. between Sierra Terrace Road and Burton Creek Drive
Monday, August 26 from 8 p.m. until Tuesday, August 27 at 7 a.m. between Onyx Street and Ridgewood Road
Tuesday, August 27 from 8 p.m. until Wednesday, August 28 at 3 p.m. between Rocky Ridge Road and Villas Road
Tuesday, August 27 from 8 p.m. until Wednesday, August 28 at 7 a.m. and Wednesday, August 28 from 8 p.m. until Thursday, August 29 at 7 a.m. between Center Street and Sahara Drive
Wednesday, August 28 from 8 p.m. until Thursday, August 29 at 3 p.m. between Star Harbor and Dollar Drive

Southwest Gas and its contractor, Q&D Construction, have wrapped up construction work for this season on a gas-line replacement project on SR-28 between Tahoe City and Kings Beach. Work will resume next spring.

Motorists could encounter total delays of up to one hour between Tahoe City and Kings Beach on SR-28 due to the various construction activities. Please allow for extra time to reach your destination. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays.
