SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The next city council meeting for the City of South Lake Tahoe will be held on Tuesday, August 26 starting at 9 a.m. at the airport. This meeting will serve as the annual Budget Workshop, along with some other agenda items. The public can participate in-person or online.
The total FY 2025 (Fiscal Year 2025 that starts Oct. 1) City budget across all funds is approximately $297.2 million, including the primary General Fund budget of approximately $68.8 million and Measure S Sales Tax general fund budget of $8.0 million.
These figures represent a decrease from last year's amended budget. This is due to one-time contributions to capital projects during the last fiscal year that used the surplus from the previous year. The total decrease in the primary General Fund proposed expenditure appropriations is $5.2 million.
The FY 2025 budget continues to include targeted funding to address the city council's five top priorities. Their strategic priorities are built environment, recreation and equitable access, a community for all, economic development, and core services and high-performing government.
The General Fund revenue estimates are approximately $0.5 million higher than the current year's budget. The FY 2025 Recommended Budget is using the City's General Fund undesignated unassigned excess reserves and available Measure S Sales Tax General Fund fund balance for several Capital Improvement Projects and is also setting aside $1,000,000 for the affordable housing project at 3900-3908 Lake Tahoe Blvd., of which all were the top choices in the Participatory Budgeting Survey staff has conducted in June of 2024 based on the City Council directive.
The rest of the agenda includes items on consent and won't be discussed separately unless the public or a councilmember asks for it to be pulled:
California Tahoe Conservancy Grant Application For $700,000 for Regan Beach Improvements
Fire Department Vehicle Purchase for the Wildfire Fuels Division
Reimbursement Agreement with South Tahoe Public Utility District and Appropriation of Funds to the 2024 Road Rehabilitation Project
