Public invited to take part in Douglas County's strategic planning process

Event Date:
September 19, 2023 - 4:00pm

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – Douglas County is embarking on the strategic planning process to create a shared vision between the residents of Douglas County and their elected officials. This five-year strategic plan document will serve as an operational roadmap for the future. It is designed to evolve over time in response to the changing needs of the organization and the community.

The County is providing many opportunities to get involved in the conversation to help ensure that the public’s voice is reflected in the plan. We invite the public to Leave a Legacy by providing feedback on the issues that they believe are important.

The opening strategic plan meeting was held last week, but there are still two public workshops to be involved in (and each includes a free barbecue meal):

SEPTEMBER 19 (4 - 7:30 p.m.)
Douglas County Community and Senior Center
1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville, NV
Have kids? A supervised activity room for children older than 1 will be provided for this workshop only.

OCTOBER 9 (4 - 7:30 p.m.)
Tahoe Regional Planning Association
128 Market St., Stateline, NV

BACKGROUND

The Board of County Commissioners first approved a strategic plan to guide the direction of Douglas County in 2008. Since then, the plan has been updated from time to time as objectives and initiatives are modified and/or completed. The Fiscal Year 2018-2022 Strategic Plan adopted in 2017 can be viewed here.

The County will also be employing a public survey to garner additional feedback from the public. The survey is set to be launched in the coming weeks, and will be accessible on the County social media pages and website. Check out douglascountynv.gov/strategicplan for more details.
