Smoke affecting areas of Northern Nevada and California

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Smoke from the fires in Northern California and Oregon is responsible for the poor air quality in the Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Area and, on a lesser scale, the Sierra.

The wind from the north on Wednesday brought the smoke south into those regions.

There is a Red Flag Warning in Sacramento until 8 p.m. Wednesday night, and Lake Tahoe has a Lake Wind Advisory in place for Thursday.

For the most part, South Lake Tahoe's Air Quality Index (AQI) on Wednesday afternoon is in the "good" to "moderate" range, while the Reno area is in the "moderate" range.
