Suspect arrested after allegedly hitting Douglas County deputy with motorcycle in sandpits

September 2 update: Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) have arrested 20-year-old Dakota Lowden as the suspect in yesterday's case at the sandpits in the Gardnerville Ranchos.
With help from the community, Lowden was located and arrested on Townhouse Circle in Douglas County. He has been charged with Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Resisting/Obstructing and Reckless driving. The deputy he hit had minor injuries.
Lowden was booked into the Douglas County Jail and his bail is currently set at $26,380.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who allegedly was involved in a case involving a deputy at the sandpits area of the Gardnerville Ranchos.
On September 1, 2020, a DCSO deputy stopped the suspect and attempted to contact him. The suspect fled, striking the deputy with his motorcycle before heading east from the sandpits.
DCSO said the suspect is facing charges of Battery on Police Officer, Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer and Reckless Driving.
A reward is being offered to anyone with information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the suspect. Your identity is not needed and you will remain anonymous.
