Update: The Elections Office will have a representative at the evacuation centers where ballots for the September 14 election can be requested. They will then go back to Placerville, get ballots for each person that requested them, and return to the evacuation centers.

The special election in California will be held on Tuesday, September 14. Not everyone would have thought to bring their ballot with them when evacuating South Lake Tahoe and Meyers, or hadn't received it yet. Since it is unknown when residents can return home, there are a few solutions come election day. A ballot can be mailed to the address where you are temporarily residing or voters can head to Placerville to the elections department on the 14th.

People can request a ballot to be mailed by calling 530.621.7480. The office is located at 2850 Fairlane Court, Placerville.

Should residents be back in their home by that day and businesses are open, ballots can be dropped off at Grocery Outlet, the South Lake Tahoe Library, and Holiday Market, with election day voting at Lake Tahoe Community College.
