As storm exits the area, nothing but sun and warmer days ahead in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After a wet and cool holiday weekend, the forecast is a good one for South Lake Tahoe. The showers are moving out, making way for warmer and drier conditions that will prevail from Labor Day through the upcoming week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

September is usually one of the driest months for eastern California and western Nevada, so the rain this weekend pushed many areas over their monthly average in just the first three days. Highs will return to near-early September averages of mid-80s in western Nevada and mid-70s for the Sierra valleys from Wednesday through next weekend (though early Monday morning will be a chilly one).

Tonight - A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 35. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light in the evening.

Labor Day - Sunny, with a high near 68. Calm wind, becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 39. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 72. Calm wind, becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low of around 41. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 72. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
