Hot-ember continues through the week - "normal" temperatures on horizon

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A robust high-pressure system remains parked over Utah, bringing record, or near-record, high temperatures throughout the West. Temperatures above 100 degrees in lower elevations and low 90s at upper elevations will continue producing moderate to high heat-health impacts this week, with Tuesday being the hottest day in many areas. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible along the eastern Sierra starting Monday, spreading north by midweek. A pattern change to more seasonal temperatures with increased rain chances is possible by late next weekend, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.
Then, we get back to "normal."
The heat wave won`t last forever and kids can start wearing their fall clothes to school before too long. The ridge finally gives way to several weather systems chipping away at it from the eastern Pacific and into the central US.
The South Lake Tahoe forecast for the week from NWS Reno:
Labor Day - Sunny, with a high near 92. Calm wind becoming north around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Monday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 48. Calm wind.
Tuesday - Sunny, with a high near 92. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.
Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 49. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
Wednesday - A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Sunny, with a high near 92. Light and variable wind becoming west 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night - A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 49. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 90.
Thursday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 50.
Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 90.
