Woman found deceased at South Lake Tahoe lakefront lodging property

9/11 UPDATE: The woman who died at Lakeland Village on September 7 has been identified as 62-year-old Jacqueline Cason. She was from the Oceanside, California area and formerly of South Lake Tahoe. The next of kin has been notified.

Detectives from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department are continuing to investigate and gather more evidence. Search warrants have been executed as detectives reconstruct activities from the evening Ms. Cason died.. The cause of her death has not been determined at this time and an autopsy is scheduled.

4:30 PM UPDATE: The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) the death of a woman earlier today is still under investigation but they have provided some updates.

On September 7 at 12:22 a.m., SLTPD responded to Lakeland Village on Lake Tahoe Blvd. A citizen had found an adult female lying unresponsive in a common area of the village. The citizen attempted lifesaving efforts and was joined by the SLTPD officers and personnel from South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue and the CalJPA upon their arrival.

The female was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Sgt. Nick Carlquist of the SLTPD said, that out of respect for family and because this is an ongoing investigation, her identity is not being released at this time.

The cause of death is still under investigation.

SLTPD is working with family and community members to develop more information. There are no public safety threats to our community related to this case, said Carlquist.

"The SLTPD would like to thank the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office for their assistance with this case," said Carlquist.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) is investigating the death of a woman at Lakeland Village overnight.

A 12:33 a.m. on September 7, SLTPD was called to the resort after an employee called them when a body was found. At this time, details have not been released but SLTPD detectives are working with the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office on this case.

According to SLTPD Lt. Scott Crivelli, there is no risk to the public.

Lakeland Village is located at 3535 Lake Tahoe Blvd. and is a mix of individually owned and managed condos and townhomes.
