CHP investigating homicide on US50 near Camino, suspect arrested

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - US-50 near Camino was closed early Saturday as the California Highway Patrol (CHP) conducted a homicide investigation. On September 7, 2024, just after 6:30 a.m., CHP officers responded to the call of a disabled vehicle on US-50 east of Snows Road.

Officers quickly located a Chevrolet truck on the right shoulder of the highway. Inside, they found a female occupant who had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

CHP officers arrested 38-year-old Scott Michael Boyles from Sacramento in connection with the homicide. Boyles was taken into custody without incident and has been booked in the El Dorado County Jail on homicide charges.

This investigation is ongoing.

CHP extended their appreciation to their allied agencies, including the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office, CalFire, the El Dorado County Fire Department, and CalTrans for their assistance in ensuring scene safety and providing support throughout the investigation.
