Major delays expected again between Kings Beach and Tahoe City during SR28 broadband project

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Caltrans is advising motorists of a broadband installation project continuing along State Route 28 (SR-28) along the north shore of Lake Tahoe next week.
The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.
Utility work with one-way traffic control is scheduled along SR-28 at the following locations and times:
Sunday, September 8 from 8 p.m. until Monday, September 9 at 8 p.m. between Burton Creek Drive and Lakewood Lane
Monday, September 9 from 8 p.m. until Tuesday, September 10 at 8 p.m. between Lake Forest Road East and Chinquapin Drive
Monday, September 9 and Tuesday, September 10 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Onyx Street and Agate Road
Tuesday, September 10 from 8 p.m. until Wednesday, September 11 at 8 p.m. at Dollar Drive
Tuesday, September 10 from 7 p.m. until Wednesday, September 11 at 7 a.m. between the State Route 89 junction and Mackinaw Road
Wednesday, September 11 from 7 p.m. until Thursday, September 12 at 7 a.m. between the State Route 89 junction and Mackinaw Road
Wednesday, September 11 from 8 p.m. until Thursday, September 12 at 8 p.m. between Old County Road and Lardin Way
Wednesday, September 11 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Agate Road and Estates Drive
Thursday, September 12 from 7 p.m. until Friday, September 13 at 7 a.m. between the State Route 89 junction and Mackinaw Road
Thursday, September 12 from 8 p.m. until Friday, September 13 at noon between Lardin Way and Terrace Drive
Thursday, September 12 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. between Estates Drive and National Avenue
Southwest Gas and its contractor, Q&D Construction, have wrapped up construction work for this season on a gas-line replacement project on SR-28 between Tahoe City and Kings Beach. Work will resume next spring.
Motorists could encounter total delays of up to one hour between Tahoe City and Kings Beach on SR-28 due to the various construction activities. Please allow for extra time to reach your destination, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.
