Authorities look for pair involved in abduction of two Douglas County children

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is looking for the two parents involved in the Monday evening abduction of two children from their grandparent's home in the northern portion of the county.

On September 12, 2016 at approximately 5:10 p.m., Dason Valdez,29, and Krystle Reid, 27, were allegedly involved in a domestic incident with Valdez’s mother at an address in the Indian Hills subdivision.

Valdez and Reid are the parents of Hailey, age 4, and Lucas, age 2. Both minors were were awarded to Valdez’s parents earlier in the day in the Carson City District Court.

Being unhappy with the court's decision, Valdez and Reid went to the elder Valdez's home where Dason allegedly battered his mother and forcefully took Hailey from his mother’s arms. Valdez and Reid then abducted both children from the residence and fled to Carson City.

Prior to leaving the residence, Valdez told his parents that he was going to return later in the night and kill both of them.

A nationwide Amber Alert was sent out which resulted in the safe return of both children to the legal guardians, however, the suspects remain at large.
