Fundraiser started for Reno firefighter injured in Davis Fire

A Reno firefighter was injured during the Davis Fire this week and a GoFundMe account has been set up for him as he faces a possibly long journey. Alex Aldana is a 27-year veteran of the fire service and has served the citizens of Reno and Northern Nevada since 2005 with the Reno Fire Department.

As he was helping protect homes in the St. James Village area during the Davis Fire, Aldana suffered a potentially career/life-altering eye injury.
His crew was quick to render aid, and the medical support put in place through the Incident Management Team quickly got him to definitive care.

According to the GoFundMe page, Aldana has a long road to recovery and will be away from work for the foreseeable future as he works to possibly regain his eyesight.

"Any financial aid would be greatly appreciated to help Alex and his wife through this challenging time," organizers said.
