Lake Wind Advisory in place for Lake Tahoe on Sunday

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for the Lake Tahoe area for Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. This includes the greater Lake Tahoe area including South Lake Tahoe, Markleeville, Truckee, Glenbrook, Stateline, Tahoe City, and Incline Village.

Winds will be from the southwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph and waves 1 to 3 feet.

Small boats, kayaks, and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing.

The South Lake Tahoe forecast for the next two days:

Sunday - A 30 percent chance of showers after 5 pm. Sunny, with a high near 70. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph.

Sunday Night - A chance of showers before 8 pm, then a chance of showers after 11 pm. Snow level 9500 feet lowering to 8600 feet after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 32. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light south in the evening. The chance of precipitation is 50%.

Monday - Showers likely. Snow level is 7200 feet rising to 7700 feet in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 56. Calm wind, becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 70%.

Monday Night - A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before 11 pm. Snow level 8100 feet rising to 9000 feet after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 31. West wind around 5 mph.
