Lake Wind Advisory for Lake Tahoe on Saturday

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for Saturday, September 17 from 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Expect southwest winds from 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. As a result, waves should be 2 to 4 feet.

Small boats, kayaks, and paddle boards will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

The three-day forecast for South Lake Tahoe:

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 68. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Saturday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 37. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Sunday - A 50 percent chance of showers. Snow level 8700 feet. Partly sunny, with a high near 61. Breezy, with a south wind of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

Sunday Night - Showers likely, mainly after 11 pm. Snow level 9000 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 36. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light south in the evening. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday - Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after 11 am. Snow level 8900 feet rising to 9700 feet in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Calm wind becoming south around 5 mph in the afternoon. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
