Beginning Sunday, September 19 at 8:00 p.m. crews will be working on SR-28 heading back toward Crystal Bay. Operations progressed quickly this week and crews were able to reach the Northwood/Southwood Boulevard intersection (Incline Village).
Drivers can also expect the scenic overlook on SR-431 to be closed this week for drainage work. A drop inlet and culvert are being installed to collect and transfer snow runoff that will help preserve the roadway.
Through the rest of the construction season, which ends in mid-October, crews will be working intermittently along SR-28 between Incline Village and Crystal Bay, as well as on SR-431. Multiple work zones are possible.
Working hours remain Sundays 8:00 p.m. through Fridays at noon; nighttime work is included.
Traffic Control - Traffic is reduced to a single lane in work zones. Flaggers will control traffic flow in these areas. Drivers can expect up to 30-minute delays.
Commercial vehicles with air brakes not permitted over Mt. Rose Summit from Mt. Rose Ski Resort to Incline Village. Nevada Highway Patrol (NHP) officers will be monitoring.
While fire season is still prevalent in the Sierra, everyone’s safety remains at the forefront of operations. NDOT and Q&D Construction will continue to carefully monitor weather conditions and coordinate with local first responders in the event of an emergency.
The Nevada Department of Transportation and Q&D Construction's SR 431-28 Tahoe Project is a multi-year highway improvement project that will revitalize and enhance the existing roadways and utility/drainage systems helping preserve pavement and protect Lake Tahoe. The construction schedule is subject to change without notice.
