New bike trail to link North Upper Truckee area to Tahoe Paradise Park with path and bridge

MEYERS, Calif. - There was a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for the new San Bernardino Avenue Class 1 Bike Path that will connect the North Upper Truckee neighborhood to Tahoe Paradise Park. The project includes a bridge crossing over the Upper Truckee River.

The USFS-Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit/El Dorado County bike path builds upon the Meyers Bikeway. It provides a critical link to the bicycle network between the neighborhood on North Upper Truckee Road and the community of Meyers, Washoe Meadows State Park, and the Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School. It links the bike lane facilities along North Upper Truckee Road from the west and Apache Avenue to the east.

The San Bernardino Class 1 Bike Trail will construct approximately 0.37 miles of Class 1 shared use path between the end of West San Bernardino Ave to Tahoe Paradise Park. The environmental documents were completed in 2020, final designs were then completed, and the project is now underway.
