SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Experience the Magic of Cascada De Flores: Música from the heart, at the Tahoe Arts Project's first free public performance of their 38th season. It takes place on Friday, September 27 at 6:30 p.m. at Lake Tahoe Community College Duke Theater.
Come join trío Cascada de Flores, for a fun heartwarming bilingual concert for the whole family. Arwen and Jorge have made music together and entertained folks of all ages for 25 years as Cascada de Flores. They enjoy passing on what they love about the music that inspires them: traditional and tasty Mexican and Latin music, with its diversity of rhythms, roots, and instrumentation.
Next Friday they will be joined by their creative compadre, multi-instrumentalist, and luthier, Jorge Mijangos. You will hear a wide variety of genres (from dancing sones about animals to boleros and rancheras about love, as well as a few creative compositions) played on a dizzying number of traditional instruments, such as the guitar and jarana of Veracruz, the vihuela, the accordion, the donkey’s jaw bone and percussive dance.
And there will surely be audience participation!
Tahoe Arts Project (TAP( has brought the group to the area for a week full of school performances from September 23 to September 27, then for the free Friday night performance.
