Major delays expected between Kings Beach and Tahoe City during Caltrans SR28 project

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Caltrans is advising motorists of a broadband installation project continuing along State Route 28 (SR-28) along the north shore of Lake Tahoe next week.

The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed broadband into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

Utility work with one-way traffic control is scheduled along SR-28 at the following locations and times:

- Sunday, September 22 from 5 p.m. until Friday, September 27 at noon between the Nevada state line and Gull Avenue in Brockway
- Sunday, September 22 from 8 p.m. until Monday, September 23 at 8 p.m. at Robert Avenue in Cedar Flat
- Sunday, September 22 from 7 p.m. until Tuesday, September 24 at 7 a.m. between Center Street and Ridgewood Road. No work is scheduled between 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Monday, September 23 and Tuesday, September 24 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Onyx Street and Agate Road in Carnelian Bay
- Monday, September 23 from 7 p.m. until Tuesday, September 24 at 7 a.m. between Grove Street and Jackpine Street in Tahoe City
- Monday, September 23 from 8 p.m. until Tuesday, September 24 at 8 p.m. between Lardin Way and Jeffrey Way in Cedar Flat
-Monday, September 23 from 7 p.m. until Friday, September 27 at 7 a.m. at Mackinaw Road in Tahoe City. No work is scheduled between 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, September 24 from 7 p.m. until Friday, September 27 at 7 a.m. at Grove Street in Tahoe City. No work is scheduled between 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, September 24 from 7 p.m. until Wednesday, September 25 at 7:15 a.m. between Sierra Terrace Road and Jackpine Street in Tahoe City
- Tuesday, September 24 from 8 p.m. until Wednesday, September 25 at 8 p.m. between Robert Avenue and Center Street
- Tuesday, September 24 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. between Star Harbor and Lake Forest Road West
- Wednesday, September 25 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Onyx Street and Granite Road in Carnelian Bay
- Wednesday, September 25 from 7 p.m. until Thursday, September 26 at 7 a.m. between Rocky Ridge Road and the Tahoe State Park entrance in Tahoe City
- Wednesday, September 25 from 8 p.m. until Friday, September 27 at noon between Center Street and Ridgewood Road
- Thursday, September 26 from 7 p.m. until Friday, September 27 at noon between Rocky Ridge Road and the Tahoe State Park entrance in Tahoe City
- Thursday, September 26 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Agate Road and Laurel Drive
- Friday, September 27 from 4 a.m. until noon between Laurel Drive and West Agatam Avenue

Motorists could encounter total delays of up to one hour between Tahoe City and Kings Beach on SR-28 due to the various construction activities. Please allow for extra time to reach your destination, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.
