Sculpture made of litter from 72-mile Lake Tahoe clean-up to be unveiled

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - “Surfaced,” the permanent art installation at the new Tahoe Blue Event Center at Stateline, will be unveiled on Wednesday, Sept. 27 in a ceremony from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The unprecedented, year-long effort by Clean Up the Lake to remove over 25,000 pounds of litter from Lake Tahoe will be permanently remembered with the unveiling of “Surfaced.” This new sculpture, created from litter recovered by dive teams, was built by internationally recognized artists Joel Dean Stockdill and Yustina Salnikova of Building 180. The piece takes the form of a bald eagle and trout, as voted on by the public.

Commissioned by the Tahoe Fund with support from Tahoe Blue Vodka, “Surfaced” will be unveiled in its permanent home, serving as a permanent reminder of the importance of environmental stewardship.

The public is invited to attend. Consider carpooling or taking Lake Link. Paid parking will be available at Bally's and the first hour is free.

The Tahoe Blue Event Center is located at 75 U.S. 50, Stateline, Nev.
