Windy, cooler and possibly wet start to the week in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A cold front will bring increasing winds tarting Sunday and going through Tuesday with heightened fire weather and gusty lake wind concerns on Monday and much cooler temperatures by the middle of next week. Chances for light precipitation return next week, mainly in northeast
California and near the Sierra.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Red Flag Warning and a Lake Wind Advisory, both in effect from September 27, 12:00 a.m. until September 28, 5:00 a,m.

The South Lake Tahoe forecast for the week from NWS Reno:

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 71. Breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Monday Night - Scattered showers, mainly after 11pm. Snow level 9100 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39. Breezy, with a southwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tuesday - Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 60.
Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tuesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 64. East wind around 5 mph.

Wednesday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 28.
Thursday - Sunny, with a high near 72.

Thursday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 32.
