Kudos: Kirkwood Mountain Resort team feeds community members

The Adopt A Day of Nourishment sponsorship team members from Kirkwood Mountain Resort had the pleasure of serving an Asian-themed meal to the dinner guests attending Bread & Broth’s (B&B) Monday Meal on September 23. It was the first time that the B&B volunteer cooks had ever prepared an Asian Crab Casserole that was served with sticky fried rice, and Asian salad. According to Jared Peabody, a Kirkwood Environmental Compliance team member, the “crab casserole was a win!”

Jared was also “shocked to see how much food was available” to the attending community members. “It’s such a great program and I was so glad to help out the folks in the community.”

In addition to Jared, Kirkwood team members included Anthony D’Angelo, Manager of Environmental Compliance; Ryan Grant, Senior Manager of Sustainability; Sage McDermott, Ski Patrol; Lila Peterson, Sustainability Manager; and Lucy Warren, Lift Operations Assistant Manager.

The September 23 annual Kirkwood Mountain Resort Adopt A Day sponsorship was funded by Vail Resort’s EpicPromise grant program. In addition to helping to fund B&B 4 Kids weekend food bags and the purchase of dairy and fresh fruit and vegetables for the Monday Meal food “giveaway” bags, Vail’s EpicPromise funds twelve AAD sponsorships annually for the two local Vail Resorts.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort always sends a great, hardworking team to help the Bread & Broth volunteers with the dinner’s setup, serving, and takedown/cleanup. Ryan Groat summed up his thoughts about helping at the meal. “It’s amazing to see the community come together to help those in need. Lots of smiling faces and I was glad to be able to help.”
