South Lake Tahoe forecast as October gets underway - dry and 70s by the weekend

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - There was a dusting of snow on the mountaintops around the Lake Tahoe Basin this weekend, but there is no more precipitation (rain or snow) in the 7-day forecast. Much of the week will be rather dry along with a general warming trend as the low progresses eastward. Temperatures will see a steady climb through the week after Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. The only wrinkle in the week will be a reinforcing shot of cold air late Monday into Tuesday morning across eastern NV. This will slow the warming trend by a day or so.

Beyond next week, the weather isn`t completely tranquil. Atmospheric river simulations as well as the ensemble clusters direct the storm track toward the Pacific Northwest, but we could see some fluctuations southward enough to impact the Sierra and western Nevada. No big ridge or significant storm signals to report for now at least through mid-October.
