Lime, the world’s largest shared electric vehicle company, announced that it will support the 5th annual California Clean Air Day by promoting the event to its riders throughout the state and offering two free unlocks to all those who take the Clean Air Pledge. The free unlocks will be in South Lake Tahoe, Emeryville, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, Sacramento, Santa Barbara, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, and West Sacramento. The promotion will run from October 4 to October 5, 2022.
Lime said it will urge its hundreds of thousands of riders in California to support Clean Air Day and take the pledge via social media posts, in-app messages, and emails. California Clean Air Day is a project of the Coalition for Clean Air that asks everyone to do their part to reduce pollution and improve air quality in the Golden State.
“We are proud to support California Clean Air Day for the fourth year in a row as our mission perfectly aligns with the goals of fighting air pollution and getting people out of their cars by offering alternative sustainable modes of transportation. Transportation is a major contributor to carbon emissions and a leading cause of air pollution in cities, which is why we are proud to be working towards a future of transportation that is shared, affordable, and carbon-free. More people on our e-scooters or e-bikes means fewer people in their cars emitting carbon and causing air pollution,” said Alyssa Edelen, General Manager, Lime.
This initiative comes on the heels of Lime running a Spare the Air campaign earlier this year towards the end of summer when air pollution tends to be a critical problem. Lime shares the initiative’s goal of fighting air pollution by reducing driving. Lime’s mission is to build a future where transportation is shared, affordable, and carbon-free, and getting people out of their cars and onto its suite of shared electric vehicles is a key component of that mission.
