South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce holding candidates forum

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce is holding a speed-dating style forum for those running for city council and other boards on Wednesday, October 9 at 6 p.m. in the Lake Tahoe Community College Aspen/board room.

This fun, informative format has been well-received in the past as it allows the public to speak directly with the candidates.

Speed Campaigning Fun Format for Forum:

First Half: The Chamber will bring in the candidates one by one, and ask them to give a 90-second opening statement. The moderator will then ask the same three questions about the biggest issues without the others who follow them hearing their answers. They will be given three minutes to answer each question.

This will give the audience a chance to hear how all candidates feel/believe on those issues. After a candidate finishes, they will be allowed to remain in the room. for the speed campaigning portion.

Second Half: The event goes to the fun “round robin” portion of the forum. There will be at least seven tables set up and attendees can go to any table available. There will be a moderator at each table and a pre-planned set of questions/themes at each table. The remainder of the allotted time left will be for questions from the attendees. The candidates will rotate from table to table with the opportunity to talk directly with the voters at each table.

Candidates for South Lake Tahoe City Council, South Tahoe Public Utility District, Lake Tahoe Unified School District, and some state offices have been invited to participate.
