The owner of Country Baby Daycare in Shingle Springs was arrested on Tuesday after officers found her displaying the signs and symptoms of being under the influence of a central nervous stimulant.
Brigitte McAdams, 63, was the sole adult at the center when El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the business which is inside her home. They asked her how many kids were in the home, and, according to deputies, she was unable to account for them. McAdams originally told them seven, but they found just five.
Alcohol and other items were located inside the residence that were accessible to the children and considered dangerous. McAdams was arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Jail on suspicion of child endangerment and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Parents were contacted and responded to the day care to pick-up their children.
