US50 over Echo Summit closed due to collisions and spinouts

There have been multiple collisions on Lake Tahoe area roads today as the first snow of the season entered the area. Snow in some areas, like along Emerald Bay Road at the "Y" out to Meyers received a lot more than people a couple of miles away.

As of 1:15 p.m. Monday, US50 over Echo Summit has been closed due to several accidents and collisions. It will take some time to get it all cleaned up so the California Highway Patrol (CHP) has closed it.

There are also several spin-uts along Lake Tahoe Boulevard towards Upper Truckee Road, so it is being advised to stay out of the area.

Ebbets Pass and Monitor Pass are closed.

Chain requirements remain on SR88, SR89 from Christmas Valley over Luther Pass.

Kingsbury Grade was a mess this morning with a jackknifed truck and multiple spinouts.
