LTUSD meeting begins early Thursday for interview and selection of new school board trustee

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The next Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board of Education meeting will be starting earlier than normal this week with the public interviews of two people who applied for the open trustee position for Area #2, Jon Hetherton and Leonard Carter. A "failure to elect" notice went out when no candidate filed to run for the Nov. 8 election. That portion of the meeting starts at 3:30 p.m. They will accept oral or written public input on this item.

The board is scheduled to deliberate and vote when the interviews conclude.

After the interviews and selection, the board will move into closed session at 5 p.m., with a 6:00 p.m. scheduled start time for the regular session.

On the regular agenda is the required annual public hearing on or before the eighth week of school to certify that there are sufficient textbooks and instructional materials provided to all students, including English learners, in Lake Tahoe Unified School District.

Superintendent Todd Cutler will introduce the selection of Director of Student Services & Tahoe Alpine SELPA, Elizabeth Shepherd,, who is coming from Lake County.
