Delays expected on SR28 between Kings Beach and Tahoe City for Broadband Project

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Caltrans is advising motorists of a broadband installation project continuing along State Route 28 (SR-28) along the north shore of Lake Tahoe next week.
The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.
Utility work and paving operations with one-way traffic control are scheduled along SR-28 at the following locations and times:
Sunday, October 13 from 7 p.m. until Friday, October 18 at 6 a.m. between Center Street and Ridgewood Road. No work is scheduled between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Monday, October 14 from 7 a.m. until Thursday, October 17 at midnight and Friday, October 18 from 7 a.m. until noon between the Nevada state line and Speedboat Avenue in Brockway. No work is scheduled between midnight – 7 a.m. Monday – Friday.
Monday, October 14 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Granite Road and Agatam Avenue West
Monday, October 14 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. between the State Route 89 junction and the Tahoe State Park entrance in Tahoe City
Tuesday, October 15 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. between the Tahoe State Park entrance and Star Harbor in Tahoe City and between Onyx Street and Granite Road in Carnelian Bay
Wednesday, October 16 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Star Harbor and Dollar Drive and between Center Street and Onyx Street
Thursday, October 17 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. near Dollar Drive and between Center Street and Terrace Drive
Friday, October 18 from 6 a.m. to noon between Chinquapin Drive and Robert Avenue and between Terrace Drive and Jeffrey Way
Motorists could encounter total delays of up to one hour between Tahoe City and Kings Beach on SR-28 due to the various construction activities. Please allow for extra time to reach your destination, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.
