Save The Graves living history event at El Dorado County historic cemetery

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - Save the Graves 2023 brings 11 actors with eight performances to the Placerville Union Cemetery on Saturday, October 21. This year’s event explores the Blair family of El Dorado County from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Early El Dorado County influencers share their stories. First-person, historically accurate characters. Eight performances repeated throughout the day.

Spend the day getting a glimpse of what being an early influencer in El Dorado County was like. The legacy of the four Blair brothers who immigrated from Scotland in the mid-1800s runs wide and deep in El Dorado County and beyond.

Throughout the day skilled actors in period attire tell their character’s story from beyond the grave. Each depiction is scripted and historically accurate. Between the brief performances, guests can wander the grand Victorian garden cemetery, and discover the featured characters and other wonders of this century-and-a-half-old place.

While exploring, look for interpretive signs that describe other characters buried here and information about headstone carvers, their symbols, and more.

Tickets are $20 and kids 17 and under are free.

The cemetery is located at 650 Bee Street, Placerville.
