Letter: Experience power of collective giving by joining Tahoe Women's Community Fund

The Tahoe Women’s Community Fund (TWCF) is proud and excited to be launching our annual membership drive for 2022. Six years ago, this fund began as a collective giving, philanthropic opportunity for our community to support our hard working and invaluable non-profit organizations that continue to support our children, our neighbors, our students, our less fortunate and our community.

The Tahoe Women’s Community Fund has already made a big difference through the power of collective giving. The minimum annual membership is $100 to join and many renew or join annually at a higher amount. We are a fund of the El Dorado Community Foundation. At more than 200 members now, we are also growing an endowment fund to sustain TWCF forever, while supporting our community every year with up to $100,000 through our grant awarding process.

TWCF is unique and differs from other organized groups. It is not a service organization, yet have provided more than $426,000 to dozens of non-profits. TWCF does not require meetings, has no fundraising and does not solicit donations. It is a membership based, local philanthropic fund. All members that join no later than December 31st, 2021 have the opportunity to vote for the areas of greatest need in our community for 2022. Once those areas are defined, organizations are then encouraged to apply for a grant in the area that matches their mission. Areas of need in the past have included poverty and housing, education, enrichment for youth, literacy and mental health and wellness. After all qualified applications are identified in these areas, the membership votes for those they want to fund. The individual grant amounts have ranged from $40,000 to $3000.

Join us, make a difference, be a part of collective giving. Please visit our website at tahoewomenscommunityfund.org You can be a voice, a vote and a philanthropist through collective giving for our community.
