As Commander of American Legion Post 795 in South Lake Tahoe, it is my pleasure to report to the South Lake Tahoe community, as well as areas beyond who assisted in this gigantic task, that we have been successful in raising all the funds needed ($64,105) to replace our outdated roof on our building.
Our thanks to owners Chris Marchesseault and Doug MacDonald and the crew at AAA Roofing in South Lake Tahoe for making this happen. Also, thanks to Kenny Curtzwiler (K & K Services) and his crew for completely removing both layers of shingles and roofing paper in two days (plus a couple of hours on day three). THEN, Chris and Doug came in with their two four-man crews to repair the lower roof (facing the highway by our chimney), add ½” plywood over the ENTIRE roof, place down the Ice and Watershield then begin to apply the 50-year comp roof with a high profile ridge, NOT TO MENTION replacing the vents, flashings and paint!
All of this was done in FIVE days, starting on Monday, September 25 PLUS staying out of the way of the Farmer’s Market which runs every Tuesday from the first week in June until the second week in October.
Words cannot express our deep and sincere appreciation for the professional work accomplished in such a short time AND - - - just in time for the rains which came on Saturday, just hours after completing the job.
Chris, Doug, and Kenny thank you from the entire family at the American Legion (Legion Members, Auxiliary, and Sons). We are eternally grateful. All of this AND due to having relationships with family members who served in the armed services of our country, a nice discount on the retail items to boot.
We have now secured all the funds required to pay for the roof and we would like to thank everyone who contributed, whether it be one dollar in our donation jar at the Farmer’s Market or those who wrote a check with a bunch of zeros.
We did it!!!
Thank you,
Tom Millham, Commander
American Legion Post 795
