New deputy director named for the Douglas County Community Services Department

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The Douglas County Community Services Department has announced the appointment of Ryan Stanton as its new deputy director. With 17 years of dedicated service to the County and an extensive background in parks management, Stanton is poised to make a significant impact in his new role.

“The Community Services Department is confident that Ryan’s extensive experience and deep-rooted commitment to Douglas County will lead to continued growth and development in the department and across the organization,” said Community Services Director, Brook Adie.

Stanton’s journey with Douglas County began as a seasonal park maintenance assistant. His commitment and passion for community service quickly propelled him through the ranks, allowing him to hold every position within the Parks Department. During the past 15 years as a full-time employee, he has served as a park ranger and senior park ranger before joining the management team as parks supervisor and, most recently, parks superintendent.

Throughout his tenure, Stanton has overseen numerous successful projects, enhancing recreational facilities and ensuring the safety and enjoyment of park visitors. Notable accomplishments include:

The construction of the Johnson Lane Dog Park
The establishment of the Carson Valley Pickleball Facility
Significant safety improvements to the shooting range, including the installation of a blue sky baffle system and a hot/cold firing line system
Upgrades to the Fairgrounds Arena lighting
The reconstruction of Brautovich Park
The implementation of a self-service kayak rental program at Topaz Lake Campground
Stanton's leadership and innovative approach to community services were recognized when he received the Young Professional Award from the Nevada Recreation and Parks Society.

A long-time resident of Douglas County, Stanton has a personal connection to the parks and facilities he oversees. Having utilized these spaces as a child and teenager, he now enjoys watching his own children experience the same joy in the parks. He and his wife are proud parents of six-year-old twins and are dedicated to raising their family in what they consider the best community.

“I am honored to take on the role of Deputy Director of Community Services,” said Stanton. “I look forward to continuing to serve this incredible community and to enhancing the quality of life for all our residents. Together, we will build on our successes and create even more opportunities for recreation and connection.”
