Continued delays between Kings Beach and Tahoe City for SR28 Broadband Project

NORTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Caltrans is advising motorists of a broadband installation project continuing along SR-28 along the north shore of Lake Tahoe next week.

The broadband project is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

Utility work and paving operations with one-way traffic control are scheduled along SR-28 at the following locations and times:

Sunday, October 20 from 7 p.m. until Wednesday, October 23 at 6 a.m. between Center Street and Ridgewood Road. No work is scheduled between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Sunday, October 20 from 7 p.m. until Wednesday, October 23 at 6 a.m. at Grove Street in Tahoe City, Lakewood Lane in Dollar Point and near Chinquapin Drive.
Monday, October 21 from 7 a.m. until Thursday, October 24 at midnight and Friday, October 25 from 7 a.m. until noon between the Nevada state line and Speedboat Avenue in Brockway. No work is scheduled between midnight – 7 a.m. Monday – Friday.
Monday, October 21; Tuesday, October 22 and Wednesday, October 23 from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Center Street in Carnelian Bay.
Wednesday, October 23 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. near Ridgewood Road.
Thursday, October 24 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. near Fabian Way in Dollar Point.
Friday, October 25 from 6 a.m. to noon between Chinquapin Drive and Villas Road.

Motorists could encounter total delays of up to one hour between Tahoe City and Kings Beach on SR-28 due to the various construction activities. Please allow for extra time to reach your destination, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment or material availability, or other unexpected events.
