Almost 1,000 personnel still assigned to 76,788 acre Mosquito Fire which is 95% contained

A completed containment line continues to evade those working on the Mosquito Fire. The terrain at two spots is keeping the containment line at 95 percent. It started near the town of Foresthill on September 6.

The cause of the fire that has burned 76,788 acres is under investigation.

There is 996 personnel assigned to the fire who will be working on the grid, patrol, and mop-up of all completed dozer and handlines to the extent necessary to prevent escape.

California Interagency Incident Management Team 10 assumed command of the Mosquito Fire Wednesday morning with Incident Commander Eric Petterson. The Incident Command Post has moved to the fire camp already located in Placerville. California Incident Management Team 12 left Wednesday and the fire camp at the Gold Country Fairgrounds in Auburn will be dismantled and cleaned up.
