Congressional candidates Kevin Kiley and Jessica Morse debate Tuesday on KCRA

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The two candidates running to represent Congressional District 3 will face off in a debate on Tuesday. While much of South Lake Tahoe does not get California television stations like KCRA, the debate can be seen on the KCRA app. Voters in District 3 include those from the northern Sierra to Death Valley, including South Lake Tahoe, other parts of El Dorado County, and Alpine, Inyo, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sierra Sacramento, and Yuba counties.

KCRA 3 has been hosting a series of candidate debates, and this one is between Republican Rep. Kevin Kiley and Democratic challenger Jessica Morse.

KCRA 3's Brandi Cummings will moderate the half-hour debate, which will be taped on Oct. 22. The debate will air that night starting at 7:30 p.m. on KCRA 3 and stream on their digital platforms. (See their YouTube channel here)

In the March primary election, Kiley gathered about 30,000 more votes than Morse.

Kiley has received the support of Trump, and he also ran to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom in a failed recall attempt.

Meanwhile, Morse has been vocal about her being against Trump, telling KCRA 3 in the past that "Congress must be the firebreak against the existential threat of MAGA extremism."

Before becoming a lawmaker, Kiley served as a prosecutor, deputy attorney general, and a 10th-grade English teacher.

Morse has worked in national security for years, was a deputy secretary at the California Natural Resources Agency, and was appointed to the U.S. Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission.
